Church Revitalization (Fresh Wind)

Many churches across denominations and states are struggling. Many are stalled in growth and many are declining. The Church Revitalization Program is now called "Fresh Wind." Fresh Wind is designed to help any local church that desires to move from where they are to where they need to be. Different churches are at different stages of stall or decline. Our consultant will work with local church leadership to determine which resources will help the church the most. There are 3 levels of the Fresh Wind Program.
  • Level 1: A consultant from the Oklahoma Free Will Baptist Mission department- after visiting with the Pastor of the local church- will make one or two visits to the local church to help them identify areas of need and suggest efforts that will improve the success of the church. This level is for churches that already have all the systems in place but are in need of an outside perspective. We will help the pastor set goals and plan strategy to get the church back on track.


  • Level 2: The Consultant will make contact with the Pastor and then make several visits to the local church. He will meet with the Pastor and other vital leadership to determine trouble areas and to help the leaders establish the proper systems necessary for success. This level may include recommendations for additional training events or a recommendation for level 3. This level is for churches that have some of the systems for growth in place but are missing others. We will help the key leadership identify missing systems and execute a plan to reinstate them.


  • Level 3: This is the full Fresh Wind Program and is designed for churches that do not have any of the systems in place for church growth. Our Department will provide materials and the tools necessary for a struggling church to develop the systems and strategy to revitalize their church and set a course for success. It is never an easy process. Many changes will need to be expected and the entire church must realize the challenge that lies ahead.
The mission department has developed the Fresh Wind Program to help struggling churches identify many problems that may be hindering them from growing. Many churches in Oklahoma and the United States (including Free Will Baptist churches) are in decline. Some statistics say as high as 92% of churches in America are plateaued or in decline. Churches that are in this situation are not reaching people for Christ. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8 and other places make it very clear that the church has a responsibility to reach the lost. The truth is, most churches exist to just have church and rarely see people saved and baptized. Many churches rarely or never have visitors and when visitors do come, they rarely return. Most of the time it is because the church is not relevant or perceived as so and visitors don't think the church can meet their needs or minister to them.

The Fresh Wind full process is not easy, but necessary if a church wants to turn around and become a church that is growing and reaching people for Christ. The program begins with a guided self-assessment of every area of the church including facilities, staff, ministries and more.
